Statement of solidarity in response to the death of Mahsa Amini

The Department of Geography & Planning at the University of Toronto stands firmly behind the recent statement by the Vice-President (People Strategy, Equity & Culture) in response to the death of Mahsa Amini at the hands of Iranian authorities. Within this context, we condemn past and current examples of harassment and violence focused on women in Iran. We are gravely concerned about recent actions taken against students at Sharif University and acknowledge the additional distress and impact of these events on members of our academic community.
