Biography
I am a PhD student in the Department of Geography. My research unfolds at the intersection of Feminist political ecology and Indigenous geographies of care, where I explore the relationship between care work and land access in the Guatemalan Highlands. Drawing on the Indigenous, feminist epistemology of cuerpo-territorio (body-land), I interrogate the relationship between territorial sovereignty and Maya women’s care work in their work towards food sovereignty. I am passionate about community healing and the role food can play in this process both in Guatemala and Toronto, which is why I also volunteer at the Fort York Food Bank.
