We were thrilled to host the Discovering Geography event in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts & Science, bringing together alumni, families, and children for a fun and educational experience. This hands-on event showcased various aspects of geography, including Human Geography, Environmental Geography, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), offering interactive activities for children to explore.
In the Human Geography space, kids engaged in building cityscapes using wooden blocks, designing roads, crafting houses, and creating colourful flower gardens. They had the opportunity to immerse themselves in city planning, allowing their imaginations to flourish.
The Environmental Geography space invited young explorers to fish using magnetic sets, crack open dinosaur eggs, discover fossils, and examine a fascinating rock collection. It was an exciting opportunity for kids to connect with nature.
At the GIS station, kids explored world maps, labeled continents and oceans, and engaged in STEM activities by creating pixel art using coordinates. This interactive experience gave them a glimpse into how GIS technology and geography intersect in our daily lives around the world.
We are delighted to have hosted such a successful event and are grateful for the collaboration with Arts & Science. It was a pleasure to see alumni and their families enjoying the activities, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2025 Kids Passport event next year!
