Planning for Abolition: A Day of Education, Reflection, and Strategizing Around Planning’s Links to the Prison Industrial Complex
When and Where
Description
Planning for Abolition invites planning practitioners, scholars, and students to engage in a day of education and reflection on planning’s connections to the police, prisons, and the PIC, and how we can move toward a more liberating concept and practice of safety.
Participants at the event will learn from community members, planning practitioners, and planning scholars, and will be guided through action mapping exercises that will chart current problems and future possibilities in five areas: transportation, public realm, housing, planning associations, and planning education.
The event is free of charge and includes a catered lunch. An optional social event (dinner at a nearby restaurant) is offered in the evening.
