The department has two alumni associations, the University of Toronto Association for Geography Alumni (UTAGA) and the Planning Alumni Commitee (PAC). Both associations support programs for our graduate and undergraduated students, and provide opportunites for staying connected. PAC
Established in 1996, the Planning Alumni Committee (PAC) is a non-profit volunteer organization comprised of graduates of the Master of Science in Planning (MScPl) program working to enrich the learning experiences of current graduate planning students. PAC’s mandate is twofold:
- to encourage networking among alumni, faculty, planning students and other planning industry professionals; and
- to raise money for planning scholarships and the Friends of Planning Fund.
The Planning Alumni Committee meets virtually on the second Wednesday of every month throughout the academic year. To attend please email committee@uoftpac.ca. The monthly meetings ensure the success of programming and initiatives such as the Mentorship Program, student learning modules and workshops, and annual Spring Social.
UTAGA
The University of Toronto Association of Geography Alumni (UTAGA) was founded in 1993 by an ad hoc group consisting of alumni who represented a wide range of graduating years and members of the University of Toronto Geography Department faculty. Over time, this group became UTAGA’s first Executive.
UTAGA represents all of the department's alumni. This includes individuals with an undergraduate degree from U of T with either a major or specialist in a geography program, and those with a graduate degree administered by the Department of Geography & Planning. Upon graduating, alumni are given the option to receive UTAGA updates by email.The Executive of UTAGA also welcomes new members to join our monthly meetings and participate in alumni programming and initiatives.
