Getting Involved

Here are a couple of ways you can get involved in our alumni community:

Join the Executive

The Executive of UTAGA welcomes new members. We meet in the evenings at least four times a year. For a list of current members, see The Executive Committee Page. The Executive consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Outreach Coordinator, members-at-large, and the current chair of the Department of Geography & Planning.

There is no formal application to become a member of the Executive. Please send your name to events@geog.utoronto.ca (or call 416-946-3148) and we will send you the meeting schedule so that you can drop in and see what’s involved.

Lead a GeoTrip

GeoTrips are themed walks usually led by someone who has a specialized knowledge of a particular place in the Greater Toronto Area. We would love to hear your GeoTrip idea, and help organize and promote the walk.  Walks have included trips to Long Point on Lake Erie and Toronto’s lost river Garrison Creek.

Help organize our annual lecture

This is a new initiative that we began in 2020 with a successful lecture on the future of Sidewalk Labs in Toronto. Our goal is to organize a lecture each year that covers a contemporary topic relevant to geography and planning and provides an opportunity for our faculty, students, and alumni to connect.

If you are interested in joining any of these initiatives or have an idea for a new one, please contact:
